Outdoor Educator and Facilitator
I am passionate about the outdoors. That’s why I offer my services as an Outdoor Educator and Facilitator.
In the modern world, many of us spend considerable time in front of a computer screen. Consequently it is easy to forget just how amazing the natural world is. I feel that it is extremely important to get children and adults away from the screen and into the great outdoors.
What do I offer?
As an experienced walking leader, I am used to planning routes and leading groups in the great outdoors. Consequently I am available for hire. For this I am insured, qualified to lead groups and hold relevant insurance.
In addition, I am able to devise and deliver single one off sessions, to full courses. Some examples of the types of activity I can lead include:
- Fire lighting
- Shelter building
- Emergency first aid
- Team-building sessions
- Off grid living and power systems
- Woodworking skills
- Map Skills and Orienteering

Experience
As a fully qualified (PGCE) and experienced teacher, I am used to supporting large groups of children.
I have taught woodworking and tool making skills in a workshop environment through teaching Design & Technology. Furthermore, I have taught students construction skills through building an outdoor office.
I am actively involved with the Duke of Edinburgh’s award scheme. My work includes training young people in a school environment. Subjects covered include nutrition, first aid, equipment, navigation and route planning. Subsequently I closely supervise groups on both practice and assessed expeditions For this role, I am an accredited assessor with DofE.
My further extensive experience as an Outdoor educator and facilitator includes the challenging role of camp leader for residential Bushcraft camps. Consequently I am at home managing teams of staff as well as ensuring the safety of groups of up to 120 children for periods of up to a week.
I regularly facilitate week long activity programmes for young people 5-12 years. During these programmes, children are able to learn a range of skills in designing and building exciting products using a range of tools and equipment.
Other work includes delivering team building activities on school grounds. These typically involve working with a whole year group and delivering a range of exciting tasks to promote teamwork and collaboration.
In addition to working with school groups, I have considerable experience organising and running activities for disabled adults.
